F.Hobhill Cole bookplate.  The first novel written by an Australian woman and the first novel printed on the Australian mainland. Housed in a folding cloth case. Extremely Rare.

Very good copy. 1st ed. In the slip-case.

Foreword by Edmund Capon. Melb. Richard Griffin. 1983. 4to. Full calf gilt. unpag. Profusely illustrated with col. & b/w plates by Whiteley. Pristine copy. 1st ed. The very scarce Special Edition, one of 100 numbered copies signed by the artist and with three splendid original Whiteley signed etchings. The etchings are Suns of the Sun, The Back of the Asylum, St. Remy & Self-Portrait, One of a Dozen Glimpses. Rare on the market as many of the etchings with which the book was issued have been separated from the set and sold individually.

Very good copy.Shead believes that though the Ern Malley poems were a hoax, they have created the image of a creative individual in the Australian psyche.
